Busy time for me this month, loads of stuff going on in my electrical business, as well as putting the magazine together, plus I’ve been working on a few things for Camper Mart, mainly the display vehicles for inside. By the time you read this Camper Mart will have come and gone so we’ll know whether I got it right or not…

Also this month, I sent Linda’s Caravelle for a service to my mate Jez at CFS in Bristol. The MoT is due shortly and I was hoping for a clean bill of health. Unfortunately it turns out that the instrument binnacle is past its sell by date and needs replacing. I didn’t imagine that this would be a huge problem, but Jez put me straight, apparently it will. It seems that the model and age of our Caravelle mean that the binnacle I seek, is the most popular one for those out there with a 1.9 T4 and the desire to upgrade their clocks. They are as rare as hen’s teeth apparently, and quite pricey when you can find one, typical!

On the magazine front, I’d like to start by congratulating Lawson Pope for winning our ‘Bus Of The Year’ competition. This month brings another packed issue. Feature wise, we have three very different T5s, Tony Stephens’ stunning grey and orange take on a seven-seater crew bus, Gary Smith’s ever evolving, beach themed, LWB, camper and Andrew Cull’s schizophrenic panel van on one side and Kombi on the other, but mainly über cool bus on air-ride. Three equally diverse Transporters represent the T4s this month. Simon Willey’s acid green, self-build has an unusual layout, as does Darren Wyman’s eclectic ‘homage’ to a van he previously owned, while Ian Standfield’s retro cream camper, also displays the owner’s unique taste to the full.

If that little lot isn’t enough, we’ve visited two shows, Bus Stop Over and Dubs at the Castle, we’ve been on a charity cruise, the BeDubs Santa Cruise in Plymouth, visited a club meet at the Vale Dubz Klub in Worcestershire. We also popped in to see Toby Stowe for a shop tour at the legendary T4 Life and still found time to fit a reversing camera on a T5 for our ‘How To’ this month. Grant is cooking up a storm in his column, Alan is discussing van themes in his and David takes a look at a new electric Transporter in his. As I said, a packed issue.

Enjoy your travels and let me know how you get on.

Happy Camping
