Wow, issue 50! It hardly seems any time since we sat down and planned out the very first issue back in 2013. I could sit and write a list of people to thank, but instead I’m going to thank you, the reader, for sticking with us and making us the most successful VW magazine in the country bar none. This month we have put together, what I believe is our best ever issue. It’s been expanded to 132 pages to make sure we can fit in all that’s good in VW Transporterland. Now with the bragging done let me tell you what is in this month’s bumper celebration issue; eight feature vans this month, three T4s, a red panel van built by serial van builder Bernard Woods, his vans have graced our pages before, an eccentric, self built blue camper, and a stylish white camper again self built. Three T5s also grace the pages, an epic red pick-up, our cover bus, that few of you will have seen before, a white T5 on air-ride that is simply stunning and a coachbuilt T5 from Retro Tourers, which apparently divides opinion, but we’ve no idea why, it’s cool, end of… The remaining two features are given over to a huge Crafter designed and built to carry a family of four and their motor cross bikes and a Caddy that just oozes cool. We have a show report from Camper Mart and a scene report from the intriguingly named Run to the Hun. There are also two travel reports that couldn’t be more different, one touring tropical Columbia, the other touring Scotland in the dead of winter. The How To covers fitting sidebars and the shop tour visits Smartbeds. We also have a feature on the many and varied things we tow behind our vans. Grant is cooking up a storm whilst Alan and David provide their regular columns to give us a window on their varied worlds. There is more but space prohibits a comprehensive list.

On a personal note, Alan and I, along with close friend, Crawford Paton, are just back from a busy week organising Vanwest. It was a tiring experience, but also in the end a hopefully successful one. The weather was great and it was a blast, if you came we hope you had a good time too.

Back in the magazine world we’re already working on, and looking forward to issue 51, another expanded one by the way. Alan and I, as well as all the excellent staff behind the scenes at Jazz want to say thanks for the first 50 and here’s to the next 50!

Enjoy your travels and let me know how you get on.

Happy Camping
