The show season is starting to slow down now, Oktoberfest is only a couple of weeks away and it will be the last weekend that I will be sleeping in my van this year

Camper Calling was a blast! Did you any of you guys and girls managed to get to the festival? For a first show it was brilliant. Ragley Hall is a fantastic setting, with a lake in the middle of it where you can take a dip (not sure you’re supposed to but people did!), or take out a rowing boat or pedalo and all free of charge. My favourite band over the weekend was ABC who headlined on the Saturday night. I enjoyed a gourmet wrap from one of the artisan food sellers and a nice cold brother’s cider from one of the bars whilst watching their set. This was the first weekend in seven or so years that I have not slept at a show in my own van.  I was lucky enough to have been given a California for the weekend. It’s a nice van and the drive is fantastic and it came with so many extras, that I would need a few pages to list them all, but the new 2.0TDI Euro 6 engine is so smooth and powerful I want one! But ,not in a California, unfortunately it does not work for us as a family of four, its a short wheel base and there is just not enough room for us all to camp in. When we do decide to buy a new van, if and when I can afford it, I will definitely be looking for a LWB T6.

Busfest was a blast, as always and I get to camp with couple of my best mates Alan and Crawford, our wives don’t normally camp at this event, as they are often too busy to attend. So it’s great, we can just rock up in our vans, make the bed and crack open a beer. No need to bring the kitchen with us, when the families don’t attend, we only had one cooker between us and that was in Alan’s van.  It was also great to catch up with friends old and new. The weather wasn’t very kind on Saturday morning, but it didn’t seem to put campers or day visitors off enjoying the show. On Sunday the sun came out and the day visitors certainly turned up in their thousands. The Show & Shine was full of some amazing buses, some already featured in VWbus and some that will be.

Happy Camping
