Two titled and terrific!

This month we could easily have titled the issue ”The Double Doka”. Cali Campers have shared their mad T4 Doka called Big Veg, in honour of its humble heritage as a vegetable delivery vehicle. Now it’s a fire breathing 300bhp+, 15.4 second 1/4 mile drag strip running monster. Doka number two also has drag racing intentions. Paul Campbell has built a custom Doka with a sliding door if you please!  It started life as an Ice Cream van and now wears a temporary matt black coat while the owner ponders his next step to full T17 membership. Our other T4 is two-tone and far from mundane; owners Andy and Trey Collins cite Sailor Jerry’s Rum and tattoos as just some of the inspiration behind this bus .

We could also have titled the issue a “Bunch of fives”, as we have three fine fives for you. David Humberstone’s white T5 is a riot of perfect paint and subtle mods. Billy Farquarson’s light grey number is another from the Lowdown Transporters stable, this one is on a hardcore static drop and it’s still a proper sump scraper. Finally there’s John Matthews’ luxury camper, with an interior inspired by a Range Rover Vogue, Hillside Leisure with some of John’s clever little touches have built a beauty.

Elsewhere we fit some parking sensors and put a roof rack on long-term test. Then we head west for a show report from Vanwest and another from Volksfest Wales before turning north to pop into VANhause for a nosey round their workshop. Hélène is in Slovakia waiting for her sister, Steve is in his kitchen cooking up a storm while Alan is in Telford musing on Camper Mart and David is discussing English Heritage, he assures us they are not one of his sponsors.

Tradition dictates that I now implore you to buy this issue to find out what else we have in store and as I’m nothing if not a traditionalist, buy one, it’s brilliant!
